ULisboa University Residences Students Meeting
ULisboa University Residences Students Meeting
On October 17, 2024, the Mentoring Program began at the António Cruz Serra, Campus da Ajuda, Duarte Pacheco and Manuel da Maia Residences, with a view to promoting integration dynamics for new students.
The Program for Promoting Success and Reducing Dropout in Higher Education, financed by the General Directorate of Higher Education, has the main objective of promoting the development of mechanisms to support the academic integration of new students and the promotion of their success.
Students who are displaced experience more challenging transition processes and their integration may, in some way, be compromised. University residences can play a decisive role and the support and monitoring of resident students can be crucial to their success.
It was precisely in this context that ULisboa created a Residency Mentoring Program. Welcoming and encouraging older students is a first step in the integration of newly arrived students. This peculiar way of involvement ends up promoting a spirit of belonging that is fundamental at the beginning of a successful academic journey.
Betting on this rapprochement of new residents, breaking down barriers and seeking to create a family space, SASULisboa, responsible for ULisboa residences, organized a get-together. Throughout the afternoon, more than 100 newly arrived students and mentors participated in different activities that brought Cantina Velha to life and, more than that, were able to promote team spirit, belonging and identity.
This meeting marks the beginning of the Mentoring Program in Residences that ULisboa cherishes and which it intends to continue.
