About the Project
The University of Lisbon (ULisboa) is implementing a Project within the scope of the Success and Dropout Reduction in Higher Education Program , financed by DGES. The project will implement a set of activities that will have a direct impact on reducing dropout rates, especially in the case of students who are in the first year of their study cycles. The ULisboa program includes several working groups, in which the 18 ULisboa Schools are represented, as well as the Rectory and Social Action Services (SASULisboa).
SASULisboa is part of the Working Group “Team of integration facilitators in the University Residences”, which aims to develop an integration program for the University Residences.
This is how the University of Lisbon's new Mentoring in the University Residences Programme was created, under which mentors (students who have been staying in residences for more than a year) accompany mentees (new residents), with the aim of improving integration, promoting socialization and preventing isolation. The program also contributes to the development of student mentors' skills, such as teamwork, autonomy and confidence.
Initially, the program will be implemented in the António Cruz Serra, Campus da Ajuda, Duarte Pacheco and Manuel da Maia residences.
